Press Trust of India Srinagar
Hardline Hurriyat Conference headed by Syed Ali Geelani today asked Kashmiri cricketers to "refrain from activities that can harm the separatist cause" during their visits outside the Valley with regard to the game.

"Some of our youth are busy playing cricket in various states of India. While we do not have any right to interfere in anyone's personal matters, we appeal these youth to refrain from any such activity which will give our enemy an opportunity to talk against us," the Geelani-led Hurriyat said in a statement here.

However, the Hurriyat did not specify what kind of activities the amalgam was referring to.

The separatist conglomerate also expressed concern over the rising incidents of schools being set ablaze in the Valley, alleging that such incidents were carried out to "defame them".

Nearly 20 schools have been set on fire by miscreants during the past four months of unrest in the Valley which began on July 9, a day after Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani was killed in an encounter with security forces.
