Religious activists attacked, supporters block highway

An agitating mob blocked the Delhi-Yamunotri Highway today after three activists of a religious movement were allegedly beaten up by some unknown persons near Kandhla town of Shamli district, police said.
Murtaza Hussain, Imran Nadvi and Tehsin Ahmad, all members of Tablighi Jamaat, were on their way to Kandhla town of the district when some unidentified persons took them out from their vehicle and beat them up yesterday, they said.
The victims, who hail from Bihar, were rushed to a local hospital, police said.
Following the incident, irate people of the community blocked the Delhi-Yamnotri Highway at Kandhla for some time, demanding arrest of the the culprits.
