Remand prisoner found hanging in jail

A 32-year old remand prisoner was found hanging at the Central prison here today, police said.

Palanisamy, arrested in an altercation case, was found hanging in his cell in the B Block of the prison, they said.

He was anguished as he could not get bail since being arrested on January 29 for breaking the windscreen of a bus following an altercation with the driver.

He had avoided talking to other inmates in the prison for the past few days, police added.
