Kerala government today asked the Centre to take immediate steps for the safety of Indian citizens, including Keralities,stranded in trouble-torn cities like Mousal, Tikrit and Kirut in Iraq.
Kerala Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy in a fax message to Union Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj, has asked the Centre to take steps to bring the trapped Indian citizens back home.
Talking to reporters here, Chandy said 44 nurses were in Tikrit as per information received from the parents of those who were stranded in these cities.

"Government has also received information that many students from Kerala were among those stuck in Iraq", he added.
Chandy also said he would be contacting Swaraj over phone seeking help for the rescue of people from Kerala.
