Reshuffle in West Bengal police

In a reshuffle among police officers in West Bengal today, former Kolkata police Commissioner R K Pachnanda who was removed from his post, has been made ADG (Armed police).

Pachnanda who was removed following the Garden Reach violence on February 12 in which a police sub-inspector was shot dead and posted as director security, did not join the post and went on leave.

Virendra Singh, who was ADG (Admin) was back as director (security), while Adhir Sharma replaced him as ADG (Admin), state secretariat sources here said.

Arun Sharma has been made IG (Hq), Gangeswar Singh, who was IG (Western range) has become director (civil defence) and K L Tamta will be the new ADG (counter insurgency force), the sources said.
