Resignation Of 5 Manipur MLAs accepted by Speaker

Resignation papers submitted by five MLAs have been accepted by the Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Th Lokeshwar Singh today.

The MLAs who had submitted their resignation papers to the Speaker were four Naga People's Front (NPF) members Samuel Risom of Ukhrul Assembly, V Alexander Pou of Karong, Dikho of Mao AC and Nunghlung Victor of Chancel and Congress MLA Y Erabot of Wangkhei, who recently joined the BJP, an Assembly official said.

With the resignation of the five MLAs from the 60-member House, the total number of existing MLAs has reduced to 55.

Assembly elections to Manipur Assembly are slated for early 2017.
