A bench of Acting Chief Justice A K Sikri and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw asked the police to deploy its three personnel at Waziri home and provide a personal security officer (PSO) to him with immediate effect.

The security cover provided to Waziri's family had been withdrawn over a year ago and the police had approached the high court to withdraw the law officer's PSO.

In an application, police said there was no need to give further protection to advocate Najmi Waziri, who was provided with police guards on court's orders in 2005 and 2007.

The police claimed it had reassessed the threat perception for the standing counsel and has come to the conclusion that neither he nor his family required further protection.

Waziri was given protection on his plea that he feared threat to his life and those of his family members. (More)
