A retired school teacher, suffering from cancer and under depression, allegedly committed suicide today by hanging from the ceiling fan at his residence in Moti Nagar area of West Delhi, police said.
The deceased was identified as 62-year-old Madan Mohan Chopra. He had been suffering cancer and under depression due to the ailment. The incident was reported this evening. A PCR call was received at around 4pm about the incident.
"Chopra's daughter had come to see him at his first floor residence in Moti Nagar and found the main door opened. On entering she saw her father hanging from the ceiling fan. His wife was not present at home at the time of the incident," said a senior police officer.

Although no suicide note has been recovered, preliminary investigations showed he was mentally depressed as he was detected with cancer, said police.
He is survived by his wife and two children. An inquest proceeding has been started in the case and the body has been sent for post-mortem examination, said police.
