Rice basmati rises on buying by stockists

Rice basmati prices firmed up to Rs 200 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today on emergence of buying by stockists.

Bajra also moved up on increased offtake.

Traders said stockists buying against restricted arrivals from producing regions mainly led to rise in rice basmati prices.

In the national capital, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety moved up to Rs 8,900-9,200 and Rs 7,950-9,700 against last close of Rs 8,700-9,100 and Rs 7,850-9,500 per quintal, respectively.

Bajra also went up by Rs 10 to Rs 1350-1360 per quintal.

The following are today's quotations per quintal:

Wheat MP (deshi) 2,130-2,330, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,635-1,640, Chakki atta (delivery) 1,640-1,645 Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 220, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 220, Roller flour mill 880-890 (50 kg), Maida 950-970 (50 kg) and Sooji 1,020-1,040 (50kg).
 

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice, 9,500, Basmati common new 8,900-9,200, Rice Pusa-(1121) new 7,950-9,700, Permal raw 2,200-2,250, Permal wand 2,250-2,350, Sela 2,800-2,900 and Rice IR-8- 1,850-1,900, Bajra 1,350-1,360, Jowar yellow 1,500-1,530, white 2,350-2,560, Maize 1,440-1,445, Barley 1,430-1,440, Rajasthan 1,080-1,090.
