Riya murder case: CBI produces first witness in court

CBI today produced its first witness in the case of murder of a 17-year-old college girl in the district in a local court.

Additional District Sessions Judge D C Singh has adjourned the case till June 21 for further hearing after examining witness Dr Umesh Kumar in the case, CBI officials said.

According to CBI, Riya, a student of BA, was shot dead and her father Suresh Pal injured at Mutbhar village under Bhorakala police station in the district on March 10, 2014.

The police later registered a case against four persons including former 'gram pradhan' (village head) Parveen in this connection.
 

Later a CBI inquiry was ordered into the case by the Supreme Court. CBI has given clean chit to Parveen.
