The opposition RJD in Bihar today demanded a CBI inquiry into the killing of Ichri gram panchayat chief in Bhojpur district.

RJD MLA Dinesh Kumar Singh raised the issue during Zero Hour in the state Assembly.

Singh and party MLA Raghvendra Pratap Singh said the killing of the mukhiya (Panchayat chief) is a serious issue and could disturb law and order situation.

They demanded the government to order a CBI inquiry into the killing.

Mukhiya Binod Singh was shot dead by unidentified assailants last night at Ichri village in Jagdishpur sub-division when he was returning home.

The deceased was heading Bhojpur district unit of Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Kisan Mahasangh (ABRKM), a body of upper caste landlords.

Indu Bhusan, son of Ranvir Sena chief Brahmeshwar Mukhiya, who was shot dead by unidentified assailants last year, is the national president of ABRKM.

Minister In-charge for Home Vijay Chaudhary said the government has taken a serious note of the incident and those behind it would not be spared.

Meanwhile a report from Ara said the situation was tense in Bhojpur district in the wake of the incident, prompting the district administration to deploy additional forces to maintain normalcy.
