At least seven persons were killed and three others injured today in a roadside blast in Pakistan's troubled northwestern areas.

A mini truck carrying passengers hit the bomb in Parachinar town of Kurram district near Afghan border.

A security official said it seems to be sectarian attack as the Sunni passengers were attacked in the Shiite area.

"Total seven people were killed," he said, adding that three others were injured who were shifted to a hospital.

Kurram region is hotbed of sectarian violence involving Sunni and Shiite Muslims.

Once it was controlled by Taliban who frequently targeted the Shiite but military launched several operations and cleared the area from the militants.
