Two motor-cycle borne persons allegedly snatched a bag containing over Rs 10 lakh from a property dealer and his son in East Delhi's Dilshad Garden area this afternoon.
The incident occurred when the Abdul Gaffar (52) and his son were walking towards their car after withdrawing Rs 10 lakh from a private bank.
"The incident happened at around 1.30 pm after Abdul and his son Mohammed Javed withdrew cash from HDFC bank. Abdul put the money in a bag and handed it over to his son. As they walked towards their car, they were intercepted by two bike-borne men who were wearing helmets.
"They snatched the bag containing Rs 10,20,000 from Javed and rode away. The victims tried to raise an alarm and chase the assailants but could not succeed. Javed then made a PCR call after which police tried to track the robbers but they managed to flee," said a police official.
Police have registered a case in this regard and they are examining the CCTV footages of nearby area to identify those involved. Police is suspecting that the victims were being tracked by the robbers beforehand.
Adbul told the police that he was planning to buy a plot in A Block in the area and had withdrawn the cash for the same, police said today.
