Amid pick up in demand in the domestic spot market against restricted supplies from producing belts, cardamom prices jumped 1.22 per cent to Rs 1060 per kg in futures trading today as participants built up fresh positions.

At Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in December shot up by Rs 12.80, or 1.22 per cent to Rs 1,060 per kg in business turnover of 10 lots.

On similar lines, the spice for delivery in November traded higher by Rs 11.30, or 1.10 per cent to Rs 1,035 per kg in 23 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by traders due to uptick in domestic as well exports demand in the physical market against restricted arrivals from producing regions, mainly pushed up cardamom prices at futures trade.
