Romantic films are stereotyped: Girish Kumar

He may have started his career with a romantic film but actor Girish Kumar feels all love stories are the same and only the characters add a tinge of freshness to them.

The 26-year-old actor made his big screen debut in the 2013 Prabhudheva directed "Ramaiya Vastavaiya" and will now be seen in yet another romantic-comedy "Loveshhuda".

When asked if he wants to establish himself as a romantic hero, Girish told PTI, "Romantic films are stereotyped, the characters are not. They bring in freshness and are different. So it is not a conscious decision to do only romantic films. If I am moved emotionally by the character then I believe the audience will too."

Directed by Vaibhav Misra, "Loveshhuda" also stars 2013 Miss India winner Navneet Kaur Dhillon.

Girish says he felt like the "most senior person" on the sets as the upcoming film marks the debut of many people.

"In 'Ramaiya Vastavaiya' I was new, but this time around I was the most senior person on sets. 'Loveshhuda' is the first film of Navneet, director Vaibhav and even our Director of Photography. So that was a very different experience."

The teaser of the film was released recently and Girish says he is happy with the response, and hopes the movie that revolves around modern-day couple, will connect with young audience.

"It is a young, fresh film which youth will connect with. We have not shown something which does not happen. We can't ignore things like one night stands or flings. But of course, our film is more than what you see in the teaser.

"The feedback has been very positive. I am confident about the film as people have liked the teaser which was just a one-minute clip."

"Loveshhuda" will release on January 29.
