Rs 2.60 cr worth relief materials sent to Kerala

: Relief materials worth Rs 2.60 crore were despatched to flood-hit Kerala from here today on behalf of the Tamil Nadu school education department.
The material, collected from 20 districts and meant for distribution in Thrissur district, was sent by lorries from Chitode, 15 kilometers from here.
The materials would be handed over to the Thrissur district collector, school education minister K A Sengottiyan said.
The minister, who flagged off the consignment, said an additional Rs 1.40 crore worth materials would be sent to Thiruvananthapuram on September 7 in 20 containers.
Unprecedented floods in Kerala earlier this month had claimed over 470 lives, caused widespread destruction and displaced lakhs of people across the state.
