Twenty lakh rupees in cash was stolen from a farmer by an unidentified person in Dudu, police said today.

The incident took place today after Ramgopal Choudhary of village Ganeshpura withdrew Rs 20 lakh from his account in a nationalised bank, police said.

The farmer had recently sold a piece of land in Rs six crore and had deposited the cash in State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur, they said.

After withdrawing the money, Choudhary was sipping tea with his friend outside a small roadside shop in Dudu, a sub-urban town near Jaipur, police said, adding, taking advantage of the situation, the accused stole the cash.

A man hunt has been launched to catch the thief and check-posts have been alerted, they said.

The cash was packed in an empty cement plastic bag.
