Rs 50 lakh worth Sea cucumber seized

About 200 kg of sea cucumber, an endangered species, worth about Rs 50 lakh and meant to be smuggled to Sri Lanka, was seized by marine police from a boat off Mandapam in the district.

Three of the five persons in the boat were arrested, while two managed to escape, police said.

A hunt was on to nab them, they said.
