Rs.60,000 unaccounted money seized from sub-registrar's office

The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption seized about Rs.60,000 unaccounted money from the Sub Registrar's office at Udumalpet in Tirupur district, police said today.

The DVAC wing, led by DSP Ravichandran, carried out raids at the office around 8 pm yesterday, they said.

Based on complaints that officials there were collecting more money for registration and also reducing the 'guideline' value, DVAC wing in Tirupur led by DSP Ravichandran carried out searches yesterday around 8 PM, police said.

The raids, which lasted till the early hours today, resulted in recovery of the unaccounted money, police said, adding, the staff were asked not to leave the office the entire night.
