Rs 70.99 cr paid as compensation

Haryana government today said it has released a total compensation of Rs 70.99 crore, including interim and final payments, to those whose properties were damaged during the Jat agitation in the state.

Private and government insurance companies have so far made payments amounting to about Rs 34,74,18,375 to the people whose insured properties were damaged, a government official said here.

The government had received 2,030 claims of which 1,933 have been settled in full, he added.

"Now only 97 claims were pending of which 17 claims were for more than Rs one crore and the remaining 80 were for amounts less than Rs one crore," the officer said.
 

During Jat agitation in the month of February, properties were damaged by arsonists at several places in Haryana.
