The Ministry of Environment has sanctioned Rs 72 lakh for the renovation of the Mahaamaham temple tank here and the work was going on.
A release from HR & CE department said here today that renovation of 16 temples dedicated to Shodasha lingams(16 lingams) around the tank would be taken up at a cost of Rs 19.38lakh.
Besides, 69 temples in this temple town would also be renovated before February 2016 to coincide with Mahamaham festival and tender for the same would be floated shortly.
The Kodungai of the 16 Pillar mandapam of Mukundeswarar Sannathi,located on the bank of the tank collapsed due to rains, the release said.
