A day after AIADMK supremo and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa announced aid of Rs six lakh and monthly payout of Rs 6000 to indigent and ailing Tamil folk singer cum actress Paravai Muniamma, a cheque for the amount was handed over to her today by Cooperative Minister Sellur K Raju.
Raju called on the ailing singer at a hospital in Madurai, where she is under treatment for some days over some health issues and handed over the cheque.
He also gave her a payout of Rs 6000 to meet her family expenses for this month, a party head quarters release said.

The minister was accompanied by Madurai Mayor V V Rajan Chellappa and a host of other party functionaries.
Yesterday Jayalalithaa had announced Rs six lakh and a monthly payout of Rs 6,000 to Paravai Muniamma from party-run "Puratchi Thalaivar Dr MGR Trust."
She had also said the trust would bear the expenditure for the medical treatment of the 72-year-old Muniamma.
The folk singer, who has acted in several Tamil films, had in a recent media interview stated that Jayalalithaa alone could redeem her and her family from trying financial circumstances, the release said.
