Rwanda, a small country located in central-east Africa, has sought Indian investments in different sectors such as construction, tourism, transport, energy and infrastructure.

"We are seeking Indian investments in the areas of construction, tourism, infrastructure, transport and energy," Ernest Rwamucyo, High Commissioner of Rwanda in India, said at a CII event here today.

He said both countries share trade and investment relations as a number of Indian companies operate in Rwanda, mainly in the tea sector.

The envoy added that Indian firm Punj Llyod is investing in peat power plant, while PSU Bhel is setting up a hydel power plant in that country.

A number of Indian tea companies such as McLeod Russel and Jayshree have invested in tea gardens of Rwanda.

With trade balance in India's favour, the main export items of Rwanda are coffee, tea, spices, salt, sulphur and semi-precious stones.
