approved a rare screening of North Korean movies at a local film festival today, as a diplomatic thaw gains pace following two landmark summits between their leaders.

At Seoul's invitation, sent athletes and senior officials to the South's in February and South Korean basketball players visited last week.

Kim's late father and predecessor was an avid fan who even ordered a 1978 kidnapping of a famed South Korean

The pair escaped in 1986 after making several movies in the North.
