SAD appoints observers for civic body elections in Punjab

Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal today appointed several senior Akali leaders as observers for different zones ahead of upcoming civic body elections, slated for January next year.

Party Spokesman Daljit Singh Cheema said Bibi Jagir Kaur has been appointed observer of Gurdaspur (urban and rural) while cabinet minister Surjit Rakhra of Amritsar (urban), and cabinet minister Sohan Singh Thandal was apointed observer of Amritsar (rural).

Former cabinet minister Sucha Singh Langah has been appointed observer of Pathankot (urban and rural) while former cabinet minister Sewa Singh Sekhwan of Pathankot (urban and rural), cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia of Jalandhar (urban and rural), and Finance Minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa was made observer of Sangrur (urban and rural) among others, Cheema said.
 

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today expressed hope that SAD in alliance with BJP will register victory in coming municipal corporation elections.

The Shiromani Akali Dal Core Committee had yesterday discussed in detail preparations for the civic elections.
