SAD to hold 'Akhand Path' in wake of sacrilege

In the wake of sacrilege incidents, the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal will hold 'Akhand Path Sahib' (recitation of hymns) at district level in the state from October 21 to 23 October to "seek forgiveness" for these happenings.

In a statement here, SAD spokesman Daljit Singh Cheema said Shiromani Akali Dal President and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal has asked district chiefs to organize these programmes.

Leaders and workers of SAD Sikh Sangat would participate in these programmes and "pray to the almighty for peace and harmony in the state and seek forgiveness for the unfortunate happenings."

Cheema added that district unit of Ropar started Sri Akhand Path Sahib today at Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib whereas Patiala unit has started Sri Akhand Path Sahib at Gurdwara Sri Dukhniwaran Sahib Patiala and bhog (culmination) would be held on 21 October at both the places.
