Former External Affairs Minister Eduardo Faleiro, who espoused yoga to overcome asthma and accomplish an incredible swimming feat at the age of 54, will soon have his best-selling biography adapted as a documentary by the Union Health Ministry.
The Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy (CCRYN), an autonomous body under Department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has decided to produce the documentary which might be directed by international filmmaker Joy Augustine.
The book - 'Eduardo Faleiro - An Inspiration to Millions', authored by former Director of Sports, Goa and Deputy Director General of 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games, Roque Dias, focusses on former union minister and NRI commissioner Faleiro's determination which saw him swim across Goa's Mandovi river at the age of 54, while still serving in the cabinet.

Former Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat took the initiative and wrote a letter to the Health Ministry expressing his interest for a documentary to be made on the book.
Faleiro received a communication from the ministry this month informing him that the Standing Finance Committee (SFC) of the Council, under the Department of AYUSH, has approved his proposal.
The Council has sought the technical guidance and support of Dias and Faleiro for the ambitious project and has agreed to convene a meeting, which will also see the presence of NFDC officials, to draw a roadmap.
"I hope this documentary becomes successful. I would even like to see it considered for Oscar. This is an excellent book, a must-read for everyone. It will inspire thousands of youngsters to take up swimming and yoga," Kamat told PTI.
