The students belonging two groups today staged demonstration separately in front of the office of the Sambalpur University PG Council Chairman over issuance of nomination paper for the students union elections on October 14.

While a group of students demanded issuance of the nomination papers also today, another group of students opposed decision of the University authority to issue the nomination forms for the second time today.

The University authority issued notification about the election at 12 Noon on October 3. It was mentioned in the notice that the nomination paper would be available from 1 PM to 4 PM on October 3 and filing of nomination would take place of October 5.

"However, very few students could know about the notice. Even a student, who is going to contest for the post of General Secretary, was also debarred of getting the nomination form on October 3. Though he was on the queue to procure the nomination form, he was debarred of getting the form as he could not approach the counter by 4 PM on October 3," said a agitating student," Nayan Jyoti Das.

"The university should have circulated the information about the issuing of the nomination form properly. We staged the agitation and demanded to review the decision and issue to the nomination form today also," he said.

However, the other group of students staged demonstration after the university authority reviewed its decision and issued the nomination form today also.

"Though the university authority reviewed its decision and issued the nomination form today also, some students defied the decision of the authority and tried to stop us while we were going to file the nomination," said another agitating student.

Manas Bhesra, who is contesting for the post of president, said, "The University authority broke its own rule. Though it was decided that the nomination forms would be issued on October 3 only, they did not stick to the rule and issued the nomination form today also. The decision has been taken just to favour a group of students. This is completely injustice. "

Vice chancellor of the University, Professor C.R. Tripathy, who rushed to the spot to discuss with the agitating student said that considering the situation, the decision was reviewed.

"The decision was reviewed after a meeting of the head of the departments," said Tripathy.
