The environmentally-friendly initiative by the Budget Wing of the Railway Ministry will see an alternative approach being adopted to communicate budget information on Pink Book and Demands for Grants using a need-based selective method.
The move will reduce needless use of paper in sharing information with the various railway field units, a release said here.
The information will be disseminated using IT tools like Intranet, Internet and e-mail. The move has resulted in the saving of 12 lakh sheets of A-4 size paper, it said.
This amounts to a significant contribution towards efforts to preserve environmental resources and will also ensure financial savings, it said.
