The Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) today said the special tax bench of the Supreme Court, which functioned from April-December 2015, disposed of 1,108 cases pertaining to indirect taxes.
"The Supreme Court's special tax bench has disposed of 1,108 cases of indirect tax, bringing down the pendency substantially and settled lingering questions of law," CBEC said in a tweet.
Resultantly, pendency which was of cases starting with 2003 has come down to 2007-08, it added.

The Supreme Court had created a special tax bench last year, which functioned from April-December 2015.
The bench has again been constituted in April 2016.
