Sealed by customs, cigarette manufacturer continue production

An FIR has been registered after a cigarette manufacturing unit was found operational even after it was sealed by the Customs Department more than two years ago.

The unit on Nandgaon Road in Kosi Kalan police station area of the district was sealed on October 3, 2012.

"However, production in the factory was re-started after breaking the seal by Sudheer Kapoor, the owner. During a surprise raid, it was found that the seal was broken and production was in full swing," Customs official Akhilesh Singh said.

An FIR has been filed against the factory owner, the official added.
