Prohibitory orders have been promulgated from today on the road between the Assam Public Service Commission office and the Veterinary College playground in Khanapara here by the East Police District Deputy Commissioner of Police.
According to an order by DCP Hemanta Kumar Das, prohibitory order under Section 144 CrPC was clamped and assembly of five or more persons, procession and shouting of slogans on the road from GS Road point to APSC Chariali point under Dispur police station was banned.
The order was in view of some specified and unspecified persons or group of persons or organisation/ association who had been disturbing normal functioning of the APSC during the last three weeks.

The DCP in his order also said the ban was in apprehension of them planning to carry out agitation, demonstration, shouting of slogans in front of the APSC office in the near future which may cause breach of peace and public order and may also cause disturbance/interruption of peaceful conduct of the ongoing Combined Competitive (main) Examination upto July 1 next.
The order shall remain in force until further orders.
