Rain has delayed the start of play after lunch on the second day of the first cricket Test between India and Australia here today.

Heavy showers interrupted the day's proceedings, forcing the umpires to declare an early lunch.

Resuming on 354 for six, Australia reached 405 for six on the morning of day two with Steven Smith was batting on 98 and skipper Michael Clarke on 85 when rain stopped play.
