Security forces today launched a search operation in a village in north Kashmir's Kupwara district following a brief exchange of fire with militants.
A brief exchange of fire took place between security forces and militants at Shiekhpura in Lalpora area of Kupwara district, 100 kms from here, a police official said.
He said while no casualties were reported in the brief firing, security forces have launched search operations in the area to track down the militants.
Additional troops have been rushed to the area to prevent the ultras from fleeing the cordon, he added.
