Security stepped up for Mudia Poono fair

Security has been beefed up as Mudia Poono fair in Goverdhan picked up momentum and thousands of pilgrims completed the circumambulation, an official said today.

The devotees perform Goverdhan 'parikrama' to seek blessings of Lord Krishna.

"Though virtually the fair started on Tuesday, scores of pilgrims started circumambulation of hillock Goverdhan as earlier as on July 2 in order to avoid rush," District Magistrate Arvind Malappa Bangari said.

The number of pilgrims performing the 23-km long circumambulation by Friday may cross 25 lakh, he said.

Bangari said cleanliness and safety has been ensured, while other necessary arrangements, including bus services, have been made.
