Select base metals decline on lower demand, global cues

Prices of base metals declined at the non-ferrous metal market here today on stockist selling amidst lower demand from industrial users on the back of bearish London Metal Exchange (LME) cues.

The industrial metals extended losses at the LME into a tenth consecutive session after US manufacturing lost steam in January, further souring sentiment already tarnished by moderating growth in China.

Copper scrap heavy declined by Rs 3 per kg to Rs 505 from Monday's closing level of Rs 508.

Copper cable scrap and copper wire bar moved-up by Rs 2 per kg each to Rs 513 and Rs 541 from Rs 515 and Rs 543.
 

Aluminium utensil scrap, zinc and lead softened by a Re per kg each to Rs 127, Rs 173 and Rs 138, respectively.

Copper utensils climbed by Rs 5 per kg to Rs 475 from Rs 470. Nickel moved-up by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 997 from Rs 995.

Copper armiture and brass sheet cutting inched-up by a Re per kg each to Rs 494 and Rs 365.
