Select base metals move up on firm demand

Led by Nickel, select base metal prices gained at the non-ferrous metal market here today on firm stockist buying amidst good industrial demand.

The industrial metals were trading almost steady at the LME as investors adopted caution ahead of a key factory activity report from top consumer China.

Nickel shot-up by Rs 5 per kg to Rs 990 from Thursday's closing level of Rs 985.

Copper sheet cutting and aluminium ingots climbed by Rs 2 per kg each to Rs 461 and Rs 139 from Rs 459 and Rs 137.

Copper cable scrap, copper scrap heavy, copper armiture, brass sheet cutting and zinc all inched-up by a rupee per kg each to Rs 485, Rs 476, Rs 465, Rs 333 and Rs 142, respectively.
 

However, lead softened by a rupee per kg to Rs 143.
