Select copra drops on subdued demand amid good supply

Prices of copra Kozhikode dropped further sharply at the spices market here today due to reduced demand from millers and exporters on the back of higher arrivals from producing centres.

Copra edible also fell owing to lack of buying support from retail consumers.

Elsewhere, black pepper, ginger, copra Alapuzha and copra Rajapur maintained a steady trend on poor enquiries from stockists.

Copra office Kozhikode and copra edible Mumbai both slumped by Rs 300 per quintal each to Rs 11,200 and Rs 13,500 as compared to Wednesday's level of Rs 11,500 and Rs 13,800, respectively.

Black pepper (per kg) 725/775 (725/775), ginger bleached (per kg) 270 (270), ginger unbleached (per kg) 290 (290), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 11,600 (11,600), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 11,200 (11,500), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 22,000 (22,000), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 13,500 (13,800).
