Select copra prices surge on persistent demand

Copra office Alappuzha, copra office Kozhikode and copra edible Mumbai surged further at the spices market here today on persistent demand from stockists and retailers.

Meanwhile, rest spices ruled steady in the absence of any large-scale buying.

Copra office Alapuzha climbed by Rs 400 per quintal to Rs 10,200 from last Saturday's level of Rs 9,800.

Copra office Kozhikode rose by Rs 300 per quintal to Rs 10,000 from Rs 9,700.

Copra edible Mumbai moved up by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 10,600 as compared to Rs 10,500 last weekend.

Following are today's closing rates (in Rs with previous rates in brackets):
 

Black pepper (per kg) 500/590 (500/590), ginger unbleached (per kg) 118 (118), copra office Alappuzha (per quintal) 10,200 (9,800), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 10,000 (9,700), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 11,300 (11,300), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 10,600 (10,500).
