The Maharashtra government today revoked the order against senior Shiv Sena legislator Diwakar Raote, who was suspended from the state council last week for his using "unparliamentary" language.

Raote was suspended last Friday for using "unparliamentary" language in the chamber of the Chairman during a meeting in connection with a debate over the multi-crore irrigation scam. His suspension was till the end of this year.

However, the government had assured the Opposition parties that prior to a debate on irrigation scam, which took place yesterday, Raote's suspension would be revoked.

The Shiv Sena legislators had staged a sit-in on the floor of the House on Wednesday, demanding their group leader's suspension to be revoked.

The Opposition also faced a setback during yesterday's debate on irrigation, as they were not able to counter Water Resource Minister Sunil Tatkare, who outrightly rejected the allegations levelled against him.
