Senior J'khand cop receives Prez honour

Senior Jharkhand police officer Murari Lal Meena on Saturday received the President's Medal for his role as the state police nodal officer during the recently-concluded five-phase Assembly elections.

President Ramnath Kovind conferred the award on the additional director general of police at a programme in New Delhi, an official statement said here.

He was credited with comprehensive security management in vulnerable areas of the Maoist-hit state during the elections, it said.

The state had witnessed peaceful elections in all five phases conducted from November 30 to December 20 last year.
