Separatist groups in Kashmir have called a strike on February 9 and 11 to mark the death anniversaries of Parliament attack convict Mohammad Afzal Guru and JKLF founder Mohammad Maqbool Bhat respectively.

Hardline Hurriyat Conference and JKLF have called for the general strike and announced dharna on the two days.

"JKLF will organise a protest march towards United Nations observer's office Sonwar on February 11 and a memorandum will be handed over to UN office appealing UN Secretary General to impress upon India to handover the mortal remains of Mohammad Maqbool Bhat and Mohammad Afzal Guru," a JKLF spokesman said in a statement.

While Guru was hanged on February 9, 2013 inside Tihar Jail, Bhat was sent to the gallows inside the Delhi Jail on February 11, 1984.

The spokesman said protest marches and sit-ins would be held across the major cities of the world.

"JKLF leaders and activists will hold protests in Islamabad Pakistan, Lahore, and Karachi on February 15, a protest public meeting will be held at press club at Islamabad in Pakistan.

"Protests would also be held in the US, the UK, Canada, Germany, Europe, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and other parts of Middle East," the spokesman added.

He said the London branch of JKLF will hold a protest outside Indian High Commission on these days.

"A petition signed by 60 MPs will be handed over to the High Commission asking for the return of mortal remains of Bhat. This petition will also be handed over to British Prime Minister's office at 10 Downing Street," he said.
