The service rifle of a Central Reserve Police Force jawan was allegedly stolen today in Bulbul Bagh area of the city, police said.
Constable Imran Khan, posted on law and order duty near the residence of a senior police official,had gone to wash his hands at a nearby tap after having lunch,they said.
"The constable could not find his rifle when he returned and reported the matter to his superior official,who informed the police," a police official said.
He said police has started investigations.
