Sesquicentennial celebrations of Town HSS

Preparations are afoot for celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Town Higher Secondary School here which had eminent personalities such as maths wizard Srinivasa Ramanujan, former Union Minister T T Krishnamachary and historian Sadasiva Pandarathar as alumni.
The three-day celebrations will commence on January 27.
The school was started as a primary school on April 14, 1864 by M Martin, a retired head constable.

Various philanthropists made generous contributions to the growth of the school.
Mysore King Bahadur Jayasama Raja Wodayar graced the centenary celebration of the private school held on September 20, 1964.
The celebration committee is headed by Union Shipping Minister G K Vasan.
