Several injured during football match

Several persons were injured when police used force to control a mob which was agitated over a dispute about result of a football match in Mau district today.

At least 70 thousand people were present in Bhimrao Ambedkar stadium of Mau where final match was being played between Kolkata and Mumbai teams, Superintendent of Police, Mau, AK Shukla said.

Faced with a "stampede like" situation, police resorted to cane charge to control the mob, a senior official said.

Several persons were injured in the incident, however, police officials did not confirm it.
