Areas like Greater Kailash I, Kailash Colony, Amar Colony, Nehru Place, Mayur Vihar phase I and New Ashok Nagar also witnessed power cuts.
Power Department officials said a number of coal-based power stations have curtailed supply to Delhi due to sudden increase in the power demand.
The maximum load yesterday was 3800 MW, but today it increased by over 8 per cent to touch 4122 MW which is the highest this season.
The highest demand last year in winter months was 3934 MW on January 29.
