Shah meets Assam BJP leaders, asks them to remain in touch with grassroots level members

BJP president Amit Shah today held a meeting with party leaders of Assam to take stock of organisational matters and discuss its expansion in the state.

The two-hour meeting was attended by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, state unit party chief Ranjeet Dass, North East Democratic Alliance convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma, BJP general-secretary Ram Lal and party in-charge for the 14 Lok Sabha seats in the state, a party spokesman said.

Shah emphasised the need for spreading the party and discussed the process to induct new members. He also stressed the need to maintain touch with BJP members at the grassroots level.

 

He also held a meeting with the party's social media team in the state constituted for the 2019 election.

Earlier today, Shah laid the foundation stone for 19 cancer care hospitals, to be set up jointly by the Assam government and the Tata Trust.

He also called on BJP's Lok Sabha MP from Guwahati, Bijoya Chakraborty, to enquire about her husband Jiten Chakraborty's health. He died this evening.

Shah will leave for New Delhi tomorrow.
