'Shahjahanpur farmers yet to get Rs 480 Cr sugarcane dues'

Former Union minister Jitin Prasada here today claimed that payments of nearly Rs 480 crore are yet to be made to sugarcane farmers in Shahjahanpur.

Speaking to reporters here, Jitin Prasada said, "Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had given a big industrial project to the people of the region (Shahjahanpur), which is giving employment to thousands of people even today."

He claimed that sugar mill owners are yet to pay nearly Rs 480 crore due to sugarcane farmers in Shahjahanpur.

Attacking Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Prasada said, "When the UP chief minister had come here earlier, he (CM) had detected anomalies at the wheat purchase centre, and had even issued orders to initiate action against the guilty, but nothing happened.
