Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, is the latest in the series of celebrities, to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi's demonetisation decision saying it would serve good in the long-run.

"As someone who is a celebrity, we have been affected as much as lower middle and middle class (due to demonetisation). But we can't keep short-term vision, we will have to think long term. We have to think about the good effects of demonetisation in long term," she told reporters here.

Shilpa today announced at a media briefing that the Goa River Marathon will be flagged off tomorrow.

"The hardships faced by common people were only for first twenty days or one month. But the long-term effects of it (demonetisation) will be far better. I am somebody who is very positive and I want to see the positive side of things. So it has started with very good intention," said the 41-year-old actress.

"Right now, obviously there is a lull in the businesses keeping that in mind, I want people to understand and think about it positively and think about it as a good change and a welcome change," the "Dhadkan" actress said.

She hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi claiming herself to be his big fan.

"I am a big fan of (Narendra) Modi. He is a visionary person and has done some really great work," Shilpa added.
