Shivani upsets second seed

Qualifier Shivani Manjanna of Karnataka pulled off a stunning round one upset as she ousted second seeded Kuan Yi Lee of Chinese Taipei in the 25th DKS ITF Juniors 2017 today.
Manjanna won 7-5 7-5 at the Dakshin Kalikata Sansad clay courts here.
Girls top seed Axana Mareen of Belgium took one hour and 14 minutes to oust Shivani Swarup Ingle by a dominating 6-1 6-2.

Meanwhile, qualifier Shivank Bhatnagar continued his dream run to make the pre-quarterfinals by defeating fellow Indian Siddharth Thakran 6-4 6-7 (1) 6-2 in a two hour 50 minute contest.
Bengal's biggest hope in boys singles, Nitin Kumar Sinha had to make a late withdrawal as he made it to the qualifying list of the Australian Open.
Mohammed Iftikhar Sheikh, a lucky loser getting into the main draw in place of Sinha, went down 1-6 2-6 to Dostanbek Tashbulatov of Kazakhsthan.
